A first-person medieval MMO
Nicks508
The game I wanted didn’t exist. So I’m building it.
Train skills, kill things for what they drop, and fight other people over it — in a world where everything around you is a real object you can pick up and throw.
What you actually do
Train it, kill it,
take what it drops
A first-person medieval world where everything around you is a real physical object. Fourteen skills that train, things worth killing for what they carry, and — where it’s allowed — each other.
- 01
Train something
Press E on a tree, a rock, a furnace, an altar. Nothing runs out, so most of it you can start and walk away from.
- 02
Kill something
Hold, push the mouse the way you want to cut, let go. The direction of a swing is a real thing the other side can read.
- 03
Take what it drops
Bodies stay where they fall and you loot them off the floor. Gold is an item in your bag, so you can drop it and lose it.
- 04
Spend it
A shop, a bank, and a wheel you can gamble on. The shop only stocks the bottom of every ladder, on purpose.
- 05
Fight someone over it
Not in the build yetIn marked places, other people can kill you. Never in town and never at the trees — you walk in knowing.
The other half
Nothing in the room
is just scenery
Most games let you look at the furniture. I wanted to be able to pick it up and throw it at something.
- Pick up basically anything
- Chairs, crates, tables, barrels. It keeps its real shape while you’re holding it, so it still snags on door frames and knocks cups off tables on the way past.
- Then throw it at something
- Clip the corner of a box with a sword and it spins, because the hit lands where the blade actually touched it instead of dead centre.
- Fireball your own feet
- You go 4.75 metres straight up, which is about four normal jumps. It is a weapon and it is also how you get on the roof.
- Shoot something and forget about it
- Arrows stick into whatever they hit and stay there. If it walks away, the arrow goes too, so anything you have been shooting at a while starts to look like it.
There’s somewhere to go
A town, a lake,
and a hole in the ground
A town in a meadow, a lake, and a gate down into the dark. None of it is a separate level — it’s all the same world, so there isn’t a loading screen anywhere in the game.

Home
The town across the water. Bank, forge, altar and shop, all about a minute apart.
What lives in it
One rat in a room is enough to be a whole activity.

Downstairs
And then there’s
scavenging
Everything above is the game you play for weeks. This is the one you play for twenty minutes at a time, and it’s where the rest of it gets its stakes.
The gate and the dungeon behind it are in the build today. What’s behind the word queue on the sign — other people down there with you — is what I’m building now.
- What you brought is safe. What you found isn’t.
- Die down there and everything you picked up is on the floor where you fell. So the only question is when to turn around.
- Other people are down there
- Not just your group. Strangers, in the same dungeon, at the same time. You hear a fight before you see one.
- Your torch is how you see and how you’re seen
- It gives you away from further off than it lets you see. Putting it out is a real option and it costs you.
- The best rocks are down here
- The best ore, trees and fishing are underground — the same slow skilling from upstairs, except somebody has to watch the corridor.
- The map never changesIn the build
- Same layout every time, so it becomes somewhere you know rather than somewhere you’re generated into.
The build
Come break it
Fourteen skills train, there’s a town with a forge and a bank in it, and two dungeons underneath. Play it and tell me where it falls apart.

That’s the entire control scheme
- WASD
- Move. Hold shift and you go nearly twice as fast.
- E
- Pick that up. Or start chopping it. It’s the one button that starts everything you can walk away from.
- Tab
- Your bag and what you’re wearing. Six across, four down, plus your gear.
- Left click
- Holding something? Throw it. Hands free? Use whatever’s equipped.
- Wheel
- Holding something? Push it further away or pull it closer. Otherwise it changes your hotbar slot.
- Space
- Jump. Or throw a fireball at your own feet and go four times higher.
Left click does two different jobs depending on whether your hands are full, and E always works no matter what you’re holding.
